Today
I went to check out the photography of Scott Baxter.
Here Scott and his First Assistant, of three and a half years, Amanda
Nielson show me the work I was interested in. For some the tradition is
to bring a loaf of bread, I brought along some Cokes and parfaits. These
guys are way too cool!
Scott shoots commercially and specializes in people on location. His clients
range from
Bank of America. Arizona Public Service, Sky Harbor International Airport,
Datek, Tosco, and Hyatt Hotels. His work has appeared in The New York
Times, Men's Journal, Fortune, Money, and many many other publications.
What
I came to see was a collection of black and white photos from Japan. His
Japan collection is awesome and I have got to add them to my collection.
Scott also showed me his new project, which I know my wife would love,
which is of historic significance. It is a collection of ranchers, all
shot with large format cameras, and executed in black and white. It is
to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Arizona statehood.
His images of several ranchers captures the true spirit of these important
families. He recognizes the families that have struggled to survive and
persevere in difficult times. This project will take him a few more years
but after seeing an image of Sam Udall in black and white, I was extremely
impressed. If you are a historian or collector of fine art concerning
the west, you need to see this collection.
To learn more about Scott, go to his web site or call him.

I
had bacon and eggs, a burrito and OJ for breakfast.
Lunch was a Coke, parfait, and I had a happy meal, double cheeseburger
and apples dippers.
Dinner was a Big Mac and fries and a Diet Coke. the Big Mac was a free
one from Brad. Thanks Brad!
I walked only 5 miles tonight.
